THE USEFUL STARTING POINT

Compare the practical obligations of home collection, shops and lockers before choosing a service.

Collection moves the handover to your address

Collection can avoid carrying a parcel to a shop, but someone may need to be available at the booked address. Check the collection window, access instructions and label requirements. “Collection” does not by itself promise a timed appointment.

Have the sealed parcels and correct labels ready before the window begins. If the address has access restrictions, explain them through the provider’s approved process rather than putting sensitive instructions on a public notice.

Drop-off makes the location part of your plan

For shops, check opening hours, accepted services and the last handover cut-off. For lockers, check parcel compatibility and the specific booking instructions. A location appearing on a map does not prove it accepts every product or parcel size.

Label-printing facilities can differ between locations. Confirm whether you need a printed label, a QR code or another instruction before travelling.

Compare the trade-offs

Use practical requirements alongside cost when choosing elsewhere. A low headline price is not useful if you cannot meet the handover conditions.

Keep proof whichever method you use

Do not leave a parcel outside a closed shop or in an unapproved public place. Retain the reference and handover evidence until delivery is confirmed. If a booked collection is missed, use the provider’s rescheduling process.

SelectaParcel currently explains these options but does not arrange either. Official courier pages remain the source for current products, locations and acceptance rules.

Questions worth clearing up

Does collection mean I can choose an exact appointment time?

Not necessarily. Read the selected product’s collection-window and availability conditions. Arrange for the parcel and any required label to be ready, and use the provider’s process for access questions or a missed collection.

Can I leave a parcel outside a closed shop?

No. Use the approved handover method during the location’s permitted hours and keep the receipt. Leaving a parcel in an unapproved place does not establish that the provider has accepted it or that a tracking event will follow.
