THE USEFUL STARTING POINT

Understand ParcelShop, Locker and collection preparation without guessing the service rules.

Choose a handover method first

Evri describes ParcelShop, Locker and courier-collection options. They are different handover arrangements: a parcel that is suitable for collection may still need a different check for a particular locker or shop. Confirm opening hours, access and label-printing requirements before leaving home.

A locker is a physical space, not simply another postcode. Check the individual location and current service instructions. If the parcel cannot be handed over as booked, contact the booking provider rather than leaving it unattended.

Measure the widest points

Evri asks senders to weigh and measure before using drop-off or collection. Record the packed weight, longest side and the other two outside dimensions. Soft bags and overfilled cartons should be measured at their widest points; do not press them flat to fit an expected measurement.

Its international size guide explains volumetric weight using length × width × height in centimetres divided by 5,000, compared with actual weight. This is a published international example, not a rule for every Evri product or account.

NO ACCOUNT. NO COURIER CONNECTION.

Use the outside dimensions of the sealed parcel. These results explain measurements; they do not confirm carrier eligibility or a shipping price.

The default 5,000 divisor is an example, not a universal carrier rule. Change it to the value specified by your service. Check the actual product’s rounding, restrictions and measurement method.

Read acceptance and cover separately

Evri’s terms link to items it cannot carry and items excluded from compensation. These are not interchangeable lists. Before sending a fragile, valuable or unusual object, check both, then decide whether the packaging and service are appropriate.

Keep photographs of the packed contents and outer box. A description such as “household item” does not help resolve an acceptance or loss query: record the specific contents, condition and evidence of value.

Keep a handover record

Keep the drop-off receipt or collection confirmation and the tracking reference. The first scan may happen after handover, so an immediate blank tracking page is not proof of loss. If progress stalls, use the official tracking/help route and the provider you paid.

Evri information here is editorial. SelectaParcel has not confirmed a commercial partnership and cannot create an Evri label or investigate an existing shipment on your behalf.

Questions worth clearing up

What if my parcel does not fit the locker?

Do not force it into a compartment or leave it outside. Check the booked handover instructions and the specific location. Ask the provider whether the handover method can be changed; do not assume that a shop or collection will accept the same label automatically.

Should I measure a filled mailing bag while pressing it flat?

Measure the parcel at the widest points in the shape it will actually travel. A bag that expands again after release should not be declared using its compressed dimensions. Record the final packed weight as well as size.

Does extra cover mean every item is covered?

No. The terms distinguish prohibited contents and compensation exclusions. Review those conditions for the specific item and packaging before relying on any stated cover option. A value entered in a form does not override an exclusion.
