THE USEFUL STARTING POINT

A useful tool should explain what its number does—and does not—mean.

The answer depends on the inputs

Length, width, height and divisor determine a volumetric calculation. Leaving the divisor hidden can make a perfectly correct piece of arithmetic look like a promise about a particular courier. We prefer to show it explicitly.

The default 5,000 value is an example setting. Users can choose another or enter a custom value. The result is preparation information, not a live rate or a confirmation that a service will carry the parcel.

Small changes are worth seeing

A 50 × 40 × 30 cm box has a 60,000 cm³ volume. Reducing one dimension from 30 to 25 cm changes that to 50,000 cm³. At a divisor of 5,000, the scenario changes from 12 to 10 kg. Protection requirements still come first.

Try the same measurements with another divisor to see why a universal result would be misleading. Then confirm the applicable product rules, rounding and restrictions with the provider.

Preparation can be useful before booking launches

You can use the measurement guide, calculator and checklist without an account or address entry. The tools do not call carrier APIs, collect payment details or generate labels.

SelectaParcel is building toward online comparison and booking. For now, clear preparation and transparent sources are useful on their own; we will not turn an example calculation into a supposed live service price.

Try one order before changing the whole process

Choose a fictional or already-resolved example and write down the contents, packed dimensions, scale reading, calculation assumptions and handover evidence in one place. Ask someone unfamiliar with the order to explain what was physically sent and which facts remain unknown.

If the record leaves them guessing, improve the field labels or the packing procedure before relying on it for a busy dispatch day. Keep the exercise free of unnecessary customer details; a useful process test does not need a public copy of a real address or label.
