THE USEFUL STARTING POINT

Prepare an accurate address, a clear contents record and the right customs questions for Germany.

Use the correct customs route

German Customs separates shipments within the EU from shipments arriving from a non-EU country. Goods dispatched from Great Britain should not be treated as an intra-EU shipment simply because the delivery address is in Europe. Northern Ireland cases can require separate consideration.

The official postal-consignment page is a starting point for the recipient’s questions about imported purchases and presents. Read the relevant section for the actual movement rather than borrowing an example from an unrelated route.

Confirm the delivery address and handover product

Use the recipient’s full name or business details, five-digit postcode and town. If a recipient proposes a collection address or pickup facility, first confirm that the selected product supports it and obtain the exact addressing instructions.

A normal street-delivery label should not be addressed to a pickup location as an improvised alternative. Keep the platform order address and any authorised corrections in the dispatch record.

Prepare item-level facts before shipping

Make a contents list with specific descriptions, quantities, values, currency and origin. Use the real sale, gift or return purpose. Keep purchase or value evidence so a request for clarification can be answered consistently.

The Commission’s current guidance on covered low-value distance-sale imports adds context to German customs procedures, but it does not remove the need to check the actual shipment. This page supplies no blanket duty threshold or tax estimate.

Keep customs communications trustworthy

German Customs explicitly highlights phishing and fraudulent customs-payment notifications. If a recipient receives an unexpected request, they should verify it through an official channel rather than following an unsolicited link.

A legitimate need for more information is not permission to publish identity documents, an address or a full label online. Share only the information needed through the provider’s stated secure process.

Make a clear physical-dispatch record

Record the packed weight and outside measurements, label reference and actual handover evidence. For several cartons, preserve each piece’s identity and contents instead of one unexplained total.

If progress stops, keep the tracking timeline and contact the seller or service provider. SelectaParcel’s tracking page is an official-link directory, not a live German shipment-tracking integration.

Questions worth clearing up

Can I get a live delivery price here?

No. SelectaParcel is currently an information website; online rates and booking are coming soon.

Does sending a gift remove customs requirements?

No. The shipment purpose may affect treatment, but accurate goods descriptions and the required documents are still needed.
